In a press release on Saturday, the FBI announced an investigation into a “suspicious death” that occurred aboard the Carnival Sunshine cruise ship.
A female passenger was found unresponsive during the trip to Nassau, Bahamas. Immediately after the discovery, the medical team on board attempted life-saving measures, but the FBI said the woman was pronounced dead on board.
The FBI also stated that no other passenger was in danger and that the event was an isolated one.
Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson Matt Lupoli said that they are fully cooperating with the authorities in the Bahamas, where the deceased and her husband were disembarked.
When the cruise ship returned to the home port, the cabin of the passengers in question was checked by the FBI.
