Kotor is a fortified town on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, in a bay near the limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovćen. The city has a population of 13,510 and it is surrounded by fortifications built during the Venetian period.
The most visited landmark in Kotor is the hike to St. John’s Fortress. If you want to enjoy the view, it takes 1 to 2 hours to walk up the 1350 steps to the hilltop Kotor Fortress. It can also be done in 45 minutes but you must watch your steps the entire time as the path is quite narrow and the rocks are uneven and slippery.
