Yes, you saw correctly. They just did this. Eight new ships…
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has embarked on a voyage towards a dynamic future, unveiling plans for strategic long-term fleet expansion alongside the development of enhanced private island destinations. This bold vision underscores NCLH’s commitment to redefining the cruise experience, promising passengers unparalleled adventures both on the open sea and at exclusive island retreats.
MIAMI, FL: In a groundbreaking move, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) has revealed an ambitious strategy that promises to redefine the cruise industry. With a focus on innovation, guest experiences, and operational excellence, the company aims to solidify its position as a leader in delivering unforgettable cruise vacations.
Fleet Expansion: A Decade-Long Commitment
The heart of this bold vision lies in an unprecedented new build order—a total of eight state-of-the-art vessels equipped with luxurious amenities—across NCLH’s three award-winning brands: Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. These ships will add nearly 25,000 additional berths to the fleet, accommodating a growing number of travelers seeking exceptional cruise experiences.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Next Generation
Norwegian Cruise Line will introduce four Prima-Plus class ships between 2025 and 2028. Following these, the company plans to take delivery of four approximately 200,000-gross-ton ships—each capable of hosting nearly 5,000 guests—in 2030, 2032, 2034, and 2036. These vessels promise cutting-edge amenities, innovative design, and unparalleled comfort.
Oceania Cruises’ Allura Class
Building on the success of its Allura Class ships, Oceania Cruises will welcome two 86,000-gross-ton ships in 2027 and 2029. With a capacity of 1,450 guests each, these ships will embody elegance, sophistication, and a commitment to sustainable cruising.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Explorer Class
Regent Seven Seas Cruises, known for its luxury offerings, will receive two 77,000-gross-ton ships in 2026 and 2029. These vessels, accommodating 850 guests each, will redefine opulence at sea.
Great Stirrup Cay: A Caribbean Oasis
In addition to the fleet expansion, NCLH will invest in infrastructure enhancements for Great Stirrup Cay, its private island destination in the Bahamas. The construction of a multi-ship pier will facilitate seamless access for guests year-round. Great Stirrup Cay, already a top-rated Caribbean port of call, will become an even more enticing paradise.
Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, expressed enthusiasm for this transformative vision: “This strategic new-ship order allows us to leverage our scale, strengthen our commitment to innovation, and enhance our guests’ experiences. The addition of a new pier at Great Stirrup Cay further supports our Caribbean capacity, ensuring unforgettable moments for our passengers.”
As the cruise industry evolves, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings stands at the forefront, charting a course toward a thrilling and sustainable future.
